Osteopathy of Babies and Children
Babies and children can receive osteopathic treatment
to help the symptoms of
a wide range of conditions. These may range from all sorts of relatively minor ailments and injuries through to symptoms arising from asthma, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. This can be a surprise to many parents and other health professionals, as it is often thought that young children and babies are too young for such treatment.
So what can Albert Road Osteopaths treat?
Paediatric osteopathy can help many conditions which arise from trauma during pregnancy, during labour and finally during the actual delivery of the baby into the world. This is often referred to as one of the most traumatic journeys we ever make as individuals and leaves a lasting impression on parents and infant alike. As experienced practitioners we treat infants as young as a few days old. We also recommend treatment for Mums after birth to help get their body back in the right place after delivery and during breastfeeding, especially if difficulties arise. Fathers and grandparents are welcome to attend and observe treatments. We work closely with midwives, health visitors and breastfeeding counsellors - regularly receiving direct referrals from these health professionals. Albert Road Osteopaths is proud of this good relationship that we have cultivated over the years.
